Healthy Habits To Adopt In 2022

It is seriously difficult to comprehend the fact that we’re almost two months into 2022, which also means that this article is well overdue. However, as they say – better late than never! We’re here to bring you our top “Healthy Habits” to adapt in 2022 and make this year your best self-development year yet. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that it is seriously important to slow down and listen to your body. These past years have normalised us taking time for ourselves and here at The Modern Day Living, we’re hoping that this notion continues well into the future, despite social outings and similar being able to go ahead again.

If you’re feeling the same as us, and still wanting the pandemic ‘self-care’ to continue into 2022, read on for our recommended Healthy Habits.

  1. Schedule in time for yourself.

Even if you literally need to plan in advance and make a calendar meeting to block out time for yourself, or if it is more spontaneous than that, either way – make sure you’re taking time for yourself this year. Whether you spend this time getting outdoors and going for a walk, or simply giving into your reality TV cravings, or even reading a book – whatever it is that fills your cup, make sure you’re doing it at least once a week. Having this time allows you to recharge and be able to be your best self when you need to be.

2. Use some sort of reflection/ journaling tool

This could be an actual paper and pen diary moment, or simply writing in the notes on your phone – either way, make sure you’re grounding yourself on a day to day basis and reflecting on your day. If you’re not into journaling/reflection/practising gratitude, it could be as easy as just noting down one good thing that happened that day like the fact that the sun came out, or you had a super yummy coffee. Doing this in a positive way every day will help train your brain to notice the good things that happen to you!

3. Spend time with people who lift you up

The people that you choose to surround yourself with on a day to day basis, will be the people that mould your values and your mentality towards life. If you’re spending your time with driven, motivated and inspiring people, you’re likely to adapt their personal traits. The same goes if you’re spending time with negative, lazy and pessimistic people – you may mould into that type of person as well. Your energy is a special thing, make sure you protect it.

4. Hydration

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – water water water! Think of yourself as a beautiful little flower growing in the wild, if you don’t get your water, you won’t look or feel as wonderful as you should. Get yourself an ‘emotional support bottle’ as Tiktok says and make sure you’re hitting your daily water intake target. You’ll be surprised how different you feel when you’re hydrated.

There you have it, folks, our top tips to ensure that you take on 2022 in the best mentality that you can. This list shows that a ‘healthy’ lifestyle doesn’t only relate to the number of veggies on your plate – a healthy lifestyle can expand to many elements of your life.
