TMDL got to sit down with Roy Maor, the Founder of MY Home Builders Los Angeles and discuss all things business, beautiful homes we think we only see on the TV and some of his favourite projects.
What is your favourite kind of home to design / remodel and why?
I find that my favourite type of home to design and build varies depending on the unique
needs and preferences of each client. I have a particular fondness, however, for modern
and contemporary homes. I enjoy the sleek lines, innovative materials, and open spaces
that are characteristic of this style. Remodelling and building modern homes allows me
and the rest of MY Home Builders’ team to incorporate cutting-edge technology,
sustainable features, and functional layouts that cater to the modern lifestyle. Moreover,
the clean aesthetic and minimalist approach often result in timeless and elegant spaces
that resonate with both current and future homeowners.
Most loveable location to build in?
Determining the most loveable location to build in is a somewhat complicated and
exciting question. While each location offers its unique charm and appeal, I find that
areas with a strong sense of community, access to essential amenities, and proximity to
nature tend to be particularly desirable. Additionally, locations with well-established
infrastructure and potential for growth often present exciting opportunities for new
projects.
What do you love most about construction and remodelling in the CA area?
What I love most about construction in the CA area is the unparalleled blend of natural
beauty, cultural richness, and architectural diversity that the state offers. From iconic
mid-century modern designs to Spanish-influenced architecture and contemporary
coastal homes overlooking the Pacific Ocean, California offers a rich tapestry of
remodelling possibilities that inspire MY Home Builders’ projects.
Additionally, the climate allows for indoor-outdoor living concepts and sustainable
building practices that align with my company’s commitment to environmental
responsibility.
When did you start your business and what made you decide to start a
remodelling and construction company?
This year marks the 10th anniversary of MY Home Builders! It’s an incredibly exciting
milestone in my life and holds particular significance in my career.
My journey as a business owner has its origins in a unique blend of passion, experience,
and a serendipitous moment.
Early in my career, I worked in various roles across different industries, gaining valuable insights into business operations and management.
The defining moment occurred however, when I identified a gap in the market for professional and honest home improvement and remodelling services that resonated with my own interests and expertise. This realisation sparked my entrepreneurial spirit, and I decided to channel my energy into creating a business that could fill that gap.
Today, as the owner of MY Home Builders, I’m proud of the journey that led me to where I am, driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering quality building solutions.
As business owners and entrepreneurs we all face hard times, what have been
some of your hardest times you have faced during business and what advice
would you give to another entrepreneur or builder coming up?
One of the hardest times I faced was during the initial stages of establishing my
business when starting gaining recognition and attracting clients. Building a reputation
and client base from scratch requires patience, perseverance, a relentless commitment
to excellence and a willingness to learn from mistakes.

If presented with the opportunity to build or remodel anywhere else in the world,
undertaking a project as iconic as remodelling the White House in Washington DC would
be both a tremendous honor and a profound responsibility.
Renovating the White House, the symbol of American democracy and the residence of
the President, would represent far more than just a construction project. It would be a
historic endeavour rooted in national pride, architectural legacy, and the preservation of
cultural heritage.
Moreover, remodelling the White House would be a testament to our commitment to
excellence and our dedication to upholding the integrity of one of the world’s most
recognizable landmarks. It would be an opportunity to leave a lasting imprint on history
