Founder of Ayla & Co, Nikki Day, realized a gap in the market while leading the busy life of being a mom to four kids. With Nikki’s fashion-forward thinking and genius parenting experience, she worked to craft the perfect diaper bag system for on-the-go parents everywhere.
The idea came to light after the purchase of a minivan that had a small vacuum installed in the back. After thinking it was a stupid little detail for a while, Nikki found herself using it everyday to clean up little messes left behind for her. “I was thinking, wouldn’t it be nice to have a vacuum wherever I go because kids are messy and I am messy and life is messy!” she said.
After sitting on the idea for a while, Nikki decided to begin building her innovative, convenient and fashionable diaper bags along with the infamous Ayla Vacuum. Although it was intimidating and she did not know anything about product development, she decided “I would regret never trying more than I would trying and failing”, and we are so thankful!
Ayla & Co was launched amidst the 2020 pandemic, shooting this business on a marathon to success. While working hard to support her family, Nikki found a new passion within her brand. “It gives me a sense of purpose outside of just being a mom, it’s something that I can take on as the identity of me” she said. Nikki has found a love for creativity and the practice of hard work to help her company grow into a reflection of herself! By sharing this with others who have the same needs as her, she finds the motivation to continue creating.
Nikki also named her company in a very specific and genuine way. Ayla, pronounced eye-lah, in Hebrew means “oak tree” and from its Scottish roots, means “from a strong and resilient place”. Not only was it a cherished name she never got to use for one of her children, it embodies the purpose of Ayla & Co. “It kind of ties into that idea of being resilient, being firm, working hard, being the best that you can be for your kids” she said. The unpredictable life of parenting continues to be minimized through the predictable quality of her products, giving parents the ability to combat chaos and stand strong. While of course, looking good while doing it!
The uplifting community Nikki has found within Ayla & Co inspires her everyday. She is continually shocked by the gratitude she has experienced. “All of those messages from people who I have never met in my life, those are what I come back to on days when it’s really stressful” she said. By finding encouragement through her community, she has found the push to continue even when it is not all rainbows and butterflies. Ayla & Co provides the perfect helping hand to all busy parents and we can confidently say that Nikki has found the solution for messy parenting!
