Easter Weekend – DIY Activities For The Kids

It feels as though in the blink of an eye, we have found ourselves in April with Easter weekend only a couple of nights of sleep away. Easter weekend is a beautiful time of the year, most people have time off work and it coincides with the school holidays which means that both the adults and the children are likely to be home. However, this also means that the children have no distractions and will likely need some activities to keep them occupied throughout the Easter break. Therefore, here at The Modern Day Living Magazine, we’ve put together a list of our favourite ways to keep our little ones entertained during Easter.

  • Easter Egg Hunt

It goes without saying that during the Easter Break, the children (and adults) deserve to go on a scavenger or easter egg hunt. Whether you opt for a well thought out scavenger hunt equipped with all the bells and whistles such as clues, ‘bunny’ footprints, and little prizes along the journey to the main treasure, or you opt for the easy version of just hiding a bunch of easter eggs throughout your house or backyard and letting everyone run wild – they’re both guaranteed to be a super enjoyable experience for all involved.

  • Designing Easter Hats/ Ears

Getting the arts and crafts kits out for your children to design their very own easter ears or easter egg basket is a great way to occupy a solid chunk of their day. Make sure you’re equipped with all the necessities such as felt, sequins, glue, feathers and whatever else you think will make your child’s design pop. Once they’ve created their masterpieces, the baskets can be used during the Easter egg hunt or the ears can be worn throughout Easter Sunday lunch.

  • Lunch Table Decorations

Having your little ones design the decorations for your Easter Lunch table setting is a great way to get them involved and engaged throughout the lunch. Of course, this isn’t for those mamas who love to have their table setting perfectly decorated, but if you are open to some quirky designs, leave it to the children. Whether this is the place cards, tags for the glasses or the complete table centrepieces – having your little ones behind the design will make the table setting memorable for all.
