Our Tips On How To Freshen Up Your Living Space On A Budget

The living room and kitchen area are the heart of the home. This is where you will interact with family, entertain friends, and even have a quiet moment to yourself on the couch. Therefore, you want this space to be inviting, warm and evoke a feeling of calmness. When your living space has looked the same for a long period of time, it can disrupt the peace as it may begin to feel bland, boring and uninspiring. However, sometimes, you may not have the budget to do a complete overhaul, therefore, here at The Modern Day Living Magazine, we are bringing you our top tips on refreshing your living space on a budget.

  • Flowers

Flowers are a great way to bring life to your living room or kitchen. They bring a sense of nature into the house and this can stimulate you to feel refreshed whilst you’re in the space. You can normally pick up a small bunch of flowers from your local florist without breaking the bank, however, if you’re looking for a cost-effective solution – opt for some dried flowers such as baby breath which will evoke the same feeling but not require you to be buying a new bunch every 1-2 weeks.

  • Create a gallery wall

A gallery wall of a handful of your favourite recent, or old photos, will take you back to happy times when you’re sitting in the lounge. Head to your local IKEA or similar and purchase a bulk pack of frames which you can often find for a low cost. Plan your gallery wall and decide whether you want it to be spaced out evenly or scattered with uneven spaces and levels between the frames, then finally pop the images in and hang the frames. This will bring a blank, dull wall to life.

  • Invest in low priced indoor plants

Along with flowers, indoor plants are the perfect way to freshen up either your kitchen or living room. There are many indoor plants that are inexpensive, such as peace lilies and you can head to your local op shop to find a suitable pot. Indoor plants have been proven to lower stress and anxiety levels, however, make sure you pick a suitable option that you will be able to keep alive.
