Easy Fruit & Veggie Packed Smoothie For Picky Eaters

Something happens when a baby turns into a toddler and a toddler turns into a full-blown kid: they start to have an opinion. A strong opinion. The once adventurous eater that would taste anything you put in front of them is now a picky one who puts up a fight when presented with fruits and vegetables. This stage of picky eaters is totally normal, but it doesn’t mean you should give up on giving your little one the nutrients they need to grow. If your kid won’t eat fruits and vegetables, they might drink them.

There’s something so refreshing and satisfying about a cold smoothie on a warm summer day. Even in the colder months, smoothies give off that ice cream or dessert vibe if you make sure they have a hint of sweetness to them. We’re not saying you should add sugar to your blender. Using fruits like apples, peaches, and bananas to sweeten your smoothies naturally is the perfect way to win over the pickiest of diners.

You can throw just about any fruit or vegetable in a smoothie. Have an avocado that’s about to go bad? Add it to your smoothie! Found some oranges that no one’s going to touch? Cut them up and toss them into your blender. If you’re stumped at what to add to your smoothie, here’s an easy fruit and veggie-packed one that your little one is sure to love.

Ingredients:

Frozen peaches

Frozen mango

Frozen cauliflower rice

Frozen mixed berries

1 banana

Water

Almond milk (or any plant based option)

Serving size of ground flax

Serving size of chia seeds

Toss everything in a blender and blend! Play with the ratio of your liquids here. Add more for little ones who need an easy to drink smoothie or try using less for more of a soft serve ice cream feel. Don’t skimp on the banana! Banana adds a natural sweetness your little one will love. If the smoothie isn’t sweet enough, try adding a small amount of peanut butter for a rich taste.
